Vets Cy-Fair

Cy-Fair Vets Educate Pet Owners
Education about responsible pet ownership is a priority for Cy-Fair vets at the Steeplechase Animal Hospital—and is appropriate since such information is made available to students in the Cy-Fair ISD, Houston's second-largest school district and third largest in the state.

Cy-Fair area vet, Dr. Roy Cruzen, and his wife, Lydia, are so committed to educating children (and adults) on the topic, they joined an organization called the Delta Society, and now are enthusiastic participants.

According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, "The Delta Society is devoted to researching and promoting the benefits of animal companionship," Mrs. Cruzen said, "With Roy being a veterinarian, we realized that he was in a unique position. He could teach and show children how to care for their pets, and how much love and companionship pets can bring into their lives."

Through the Delta Society, the Cruzens helped establish a pet visitation program at the former Veterans Affairs Hospital in Houston, now known as the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Vets Speaking Engagements in Cy-Fair Area
Dr. Cruzen began speaking at Cy-Fair-area schools and opened his animal hospital's doors to anyone who was interested in becoming vets or others aspects of a career in veterinary medicine.

He also has invited groups such as the Boy Scout in the Cy-Fair, Cypress, Jersey Village area to tour the Steeplechase Animal Hospital and observe animal care in progress, including spay/neutering surgery.
